Mail it to our address on the form OR * Register online at our website’s Courses page at https://www.theoalc.org/catalog . * Please list the courses you want using the two- or three-letter code that precedes the course title. * Register by May 17 so we can add you to class rosters and get you any needed class information. Membership Payments and Trip Policies * A membership entitles you to register for an unlimited number of classes in that semester. * The one-year membership option is available only at the beginning of the fall semester. * Mail payment with the registration form OR pay online at our website Membership page at https://www.theoalc.org/membership . The page accepts credit cards or a promise to mail in a check. * Class leaders and volunteers for TOALC in the last semester receive a free one-semester membership. * Membership Refunds / Credits: Available if you decide not to register for any classes or if for any reason, you attend none of the classes for which you registered. * Trip Policies: o Deposits: Due at times and for amounts specified where TOALC must prepay vendors. Deposits refunded only if your cancellation incurs no cost to TOALC. Separate checks per trip, please!! o Guests: Trips are open to anyone who registers for the semester, on a first come first served basis. As in the past, should changes become necessary to our program, the health and safety of our membership will be our primary concern. * Park in the lower lot at the church so members with mobility challenges can park on the upper driveway. * No parking in/near the circle in front of the church. You may block a driver’s view of other drivers. * Let us know if another member is injured, ill, etc. so we can reach out to members and their families. A game of skill, strategy, and luck similar to Rummikub; played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. Requires skills in tactics, observation, memory, and adaptive strategies. Mah Jongg serves as a way to socialize and has been found to be a viable treatment for dementia. Yoga for Seniors Tues. 2:30 to 3:30 - May 23 to July 18 in person. Traditional yoga program geared for seniors. Expect stress reduction, increased flexibility, possible reduction of pain from arthritis, and lowering of biological age. Safety is the #1 concern. This is not chair yoga. You must be able to get up from  and down to the floor without assistance. A yoga mat is required and is easily available online or from some local stores. Join us at Yetter Park, 3185 Wilson Ave., East Stroudsburg, to learn the basic rules of the sport and how to throw. Then play a full round of disc golf to practice. Disc Golf (formerly "frisbee golf") is a game in which a plastic disc is thrown into each of a series of metal baskets situated on an outdoor course, the object being to complete the course using the fewest possible throws. All walking is flat or mostly flat on grass and gravel within the East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg areas. As a federal prosecutor, he was honored for successfully investigating and prosecuting the financial services company E.F. Hutton. Sonny will discuss his fascinating family history and accomplishments. His parents were remarkable — the late Odetta and Judge Albert R. Murray Sr. — founded and operated the Hillside Inn in Marshalls Creek for more than 50 years. It is historically known for catering to a black clientele that was routinely denied accommodations in the Poconos in the 1950s and '60s. Judge Murray also was a New York State Supreme Court judge. Fancher is a writer, editor, and consultant whose novel, Red Clay, is a multi-generational saga that follows the interwoven lives of an enslaved black family and their white owners during the final months of the Civil War and the post-war Reconstruction era in southern Alabama. Red Clay, Fancher’s debut novel, a finalist in the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society’s national literary competition in the “Novel-in-Progress” category, has been acquired by Blackstone Publishing. Charles Fancher is a former journalist who was a reporter and editor for The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Detroit Free Press. As a consultant, Fancher has developed communications strategies and conducted media training for clients. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship for Journalists at the University of Michigan.  July 21: John Caminiti, 1 pm via Zoom. John’s new book is Pre-Ordained Betrayal. Opening with the narrator’s suicide, the book follows the life of Robert “Bobby” Pawloski as he is sexually abused in adolescence by a priest and continues to perpetuate the cycle throughout his life. The morally grey narrator invites those interested in the cycle of church abuse into his story as he follows Pawloski into adulthood, ordination, betrayal of his vows, arrest, and treatment at a church-related facility where he feels his concerns are ignored by diocesan leaders.     John Caminiti began his life in a Catholic orphanage. He was president of the parish altar boys and was educated by Sisters of Saint Joseph, Franciscan Friars, and Jesuit Priests. He briefly considered the priesthood. Instead of giving homilies he eventually became a practicing attorney specializing in child abuse and foster care cases. He lives with his husband in retirement and is a practicing Pagan.
